Maintaining eye contact is a good form of communication. But sometimes you
may feel uncomfortable doing so if you have puffy eyes. Eye bags are
puffiness around or under the area of the eyes. They occur mainly as a
result of aging but there are other things that can cause it. The tissue
around the eyes is so thin that with aging they become weaken. The
muscles sag and fat knob causing the eye lids to appear puffy or
swollen. Although eye bags may appear unpleasant they pose no serious
health risk. Other possible causes of eye bags are allergies, stress,
lack of sleep and habits that allow water retention in the eyes such as
eating foods full of sodium and heavy alcohol drinking.

Getting Rid Of Eye Bags
Cucumber
Slice
cucumber and place in the refrigerator. Make sure it is properly
covered. Remove the cucumber slices once they are frozen. Lie down with
your head on a pillow with your face upward. Place the cucumber over
your eyes for about 10 minutes.
Cold spoon
Place a spoon into a cup of cold water for 3-5 minutes. Remove the spoon and place it on the eye.
Tea bag
Get any tea bag and slightly cool. Place it in the eyes while you lie down with your head prop on a pillow.
Cold compresses
Get a washcloth and dip it in cold water. Place it on the eyes.
Warning:
Cucumber may contain bacteria which can lead to eye infection. Hence,
eye specialists do not recommend cucumber despite it effectiveness in
getting rid of puffy eyes. Tea bag can also cause eye infection.
Not
all swollen eyes are as a result of eye bags, it could be a sign of
other health conditions. Therefore it is necessary to sometimes seek
professional medical attention when you notice swollen eyes especially
if it is accompanied with pain or a headache.
I have never really thought of it that cucumber can contain bacteria but I feel it depend on the handling procedures. The cold spoon should be more safer for eyes bags.
ReplyDeleteCucumber is probably the best among those in your list. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOhh..... thx for the tips. I definitely got heavy eye bags LOL
ReplyDeleteI didn't know cucumber slices may result in eye infection! Tea bags too? I've only heard that using tea bags may "stain" the eye area, giving you dark circles instead.
ReplyDeleteI've tried the cold spoon, cucumber and tea bags! It's extremely comfortable and soothing! But for cold spoon, do give it a quick wash to get rid of the frozen seafood or poultry smell if you put them in the freezer!
ReplyDeletethat's true, puffy eyes can be caused by sodium. it can actually mean that you have urinary track infection or a more advanced kidney problem. i know because i went through that as a child and had to receive treatment for it.
ReplyDeleteA lot of us will appreciate this post :)
ReplyDeleteSleep is very important and often helps get rid of eye bags. I agree with the low-salt diet, I've done it last year and have committed to sticking to it. It works!
Thanks for the tips, reduce sodium (salt) intake is good to reduce water retention and eye bags.

ReplyDeleteI was like "eye bag?". But after I read that alergy can cause it, I remembered when Will Smith ate a food he was alergic to and got puffy eyes. It was in a movie titled "Hitch". I hope I don't get one.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post - my eye bags seem to be due to having children..! Sim
ReplyDeleteDon't everyone hate eyebags. They practically tell the world you are not having enough sleep. Hehe. I know about the cucumber and teabags, though I never really tried it myself.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all these amazing tips! I get them sometimes and they annoy me so much... Now I know what to do with them =D
ReplyDeleteI usually do the teabags, and I haven't had any infections yet, so I'll prolly stick to that. The cold compress is also effective!
ReplyDeleteI think sleep is the best cure for eyebags. Cucumber can also help remove eye bag and calm the eye nerves.
ReplyDeleteI prefer cold compresses over all the rest. I've tried cucumber but didn't like the feel of it.
ReplyDeleteEye bags are very unpleasant, sometimes I also get them and I really need to find a way how to deal with them, so I will try to follow your tips and share my experience after that!
