To some people the most valuable fluid of all will be crude oil. This is
on the ground that the world's energy depend on it. Could oil support
life itself? There is a fluid that is extraordinary and is said to be
life itself. That is blood! Regardless of your color, race, or religion,
you need blood to live. It is a common source of life humans and
animals share. Blood is the life! That is why when an animal is to be
killed for food the blood is poured out first. In Bible times, blood was
sacred. Animal blood were used for sacrifices. As humans, blood has a
life saving role to our being alive and healthy. It is worth knowing
that blood has it own composition.

Blood has four primary components. Every part has its function, and the percentage of total volume represented.
Plasma
Plasma constitute somewhere around 52 and 62 percent of whole blood. It is a straw-colored fluid in which blood cells, proteins, and different substances are suspended and transported. Water constitutes 91.5 percent of plasma. Proteins, from which plasma fractions are derived, constitute 7 percent of the plasma (counting albumins, which make up around 4 percent of the plasma; globulins, around 3 percent; and fibrinogen, under 1 percent). The remaining 1.5 percent of plasma is comprised of different substances, for example, supplements, hormones, respiratory gasses, electrolytes, vitamins, and nitrogenous wastes.
Generally as blood plasma can be a source of different fractions, other primary parts can be processed to seclude smaller parts, or fractions. For instance, the hemoglobin is a fraction of the red blood cell.
White blood cells

White blood cells
White blood cells (leukocytes) constitute under 1 percent of whole blood. They attack and eliminate potential harmful foreign matter.
Platelets
Platelets
Platelets (thrombocytes) constitute under 1 percent of whole blood. These form clots, blocking blood from leaving wounds.
Red blood cells
Red blood cells (erythrocytes) constitute somewhere around 38 and 48 percent of whole blood. These cells keep tissue alive by bringing oxygen to it and taking carbon dioxide away.
As seen from the composition of blood, it clear that it fundamental functions are essential to life. Blood carries oxygen through the body, evacuates carbon dioxide, helps the body adjust to temperature changes and supports in the battle against diseases.

The role of blood in waste evacuation serves to clarify why it can be hazardous to come into contact with blood once it leaves the body. That is the reason blood transfusion at times have resulted to complication because the blood given conveys an infective agent.
So how you should handle blood? Knowing that blood can be a source of getting infected with certain diseases such as HIV/AIDS, hepatitis and other sexual transmitted diseases, you should avoid been at risk. Live a responsible life!

Now this has been a refresher in Biology and My Daughter is finding it very informative as she is at hat age of learning! Awesome. Thanks Mazino for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt's imperative to be conscious of our health, I learnt a lot while reading this. Thanks for sharing Mazino. Ur one of the very few Nigerian bloggers with nitche passion. Very educative writeups.
ReplyDeletewhat a nice informative post, thanks for this
ReplyDeletevery nice info you share dear...thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is a good biology refresher about blood. Thanks for blogging about it!
ReplyDeleteBlood is as important as the water. Without it, we will be all dead.
ReplyDeleteI know some people need a good amount of blood for transfusion in order to live. I support this by donating my blood to red cross whenever the opportunity sets in.
ReplyDeleteI do not accept blood neither give out. It is sacred. There are better alternatives to blood transfusion and surgeons are doing such now.
DeleteInteresting. This is for religious reasons? Or personal beliefs? For emergencies, this might be difficult.
DeleteI thought the most precious fluid should be water as it is in our blood as well and the lack of water will make the blood viscous or thick, which is not good for the body?
ReplyDeleteTrue! Blood is life and more. Thanks for sharing this valuable infornation.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post - however I do feel that people should be able to make their minds up how they live their life - responsibly or irresponsibly without feeling as if they are being judged or frowned upon. Sim
ReplyDeleteYes people should be allow to live their lives the way they want. But also know that certain irresponsible act can affect the lives of others negatively.
DeleteTrue. I remember my sister who died from leukemia, we infused so much blood in her body but she didn't survive. Her bone marrow stopped producing red blood cells. Now this makes me miss her.
ReplyDeleteVery informative! I miss working in the hospital and all my nursing years! Sadly, nurses are exploited in the Philippines
ReplyDeleteI guess blood is the fluid that powers up our system. We should also balance our red and white blood cell because while one is your fuel the other one is your shield against diseases.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think about donating blood? I heard some people object against it as mixing up our genetic code with other people. Personally I am for it as it is life saving. Very interesting article about blood!
ReplyDeleteI think it goes without saying that blood it the most powerful fluid in our body and we definitely have to learn its true value! :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent read! you have furnish us with minute details about blood. Yes, it is the most precious fluid in the world. Learn how to take care of it.
ReplyDeleteThe blood coursing through our body is part of our life force and we need water to sustain it. All are important to survival. That micro photo of blood is pretty amazing and looks like a fine painting.
ReplyDeleteI actually consider both blood and water as the most important fluids of all. :) Anyhow, great article! It reminded me too of how I only knew of my blood type not too long ago. Imagine living for over 20 years of your life without knowing anything about your blood type. Haha!
ReplyDeleteWater is important but blood has more value. Concerning the issue of blood type, we are both in the same category. I have worked in the lab before but couldn't use the opportunity to know my blood type.
Deletewow i felt like i was in a class again in biology seriously. thank you for refreshing me this.
ReplyDeletethis is a very informative post. Being an non science student this post really helped me know about the composition of the most precious fluid in my body.
ReplyDeletegreat read. i would have thought water but yes i agree, blood is
ReplyDeleteYes blood is definitely precious. I wish that /i could give but I can't due to medical reasons.
